Crucial Conversations & Crucial Confrontations are well-written, practical guides for resolving common workplace problems. HIGHLY RECOMMEND them both. It was with excitement then that I purchased Crucial Accountability - only to find that it is word for word the same book as Crucial Confrontations. Buy one or the other.

Love this book. It's a little bit of a long read though. This (in conjunction with Crucial Conversations, the predecessor to this book) saved my family life. I used to be a jerk but now I'm almost tolerable. These people taught me how to converse without interrogating, how to provide opinions without being bossy, and how to influence without being pushy. Seriously--the concepts here changed my life. This one is GREAT for managers because it teaches how to deal with co-workers and subordinates who don't follow through on commitments.

I had to read this for a class and I was dreading it, but I ended up reading almost all of it in one sitting. The authors not only offered good, practical, applicable information, but their writing was pretty good as well. I expected it to be dry and very text-book like, but really it was pretty engaging. It's been a few weeks since I read it and it has proved to be pretty helpful! It's not a magic fix-all for all your relationship problems or anything like that, but its a good tool and resource fro improving how you handle accountability issues in relationships in your personal and professional life.

I didn't catch that the authors had re-titled their existing book, "Crucial Confrontations".I expected something new, LOL.I wasn't offended though because the book is so good.It made an excellent gift.This is the best book I've read on accountability discussions.The "FeedBack Script", podcast by Manager Tools and an old book, "Analyzing Performance Problems", by Mager and Piper are excellent companions to this book. Also S.Covey Sr.'s, discussion about managing by agreement in the 7 Habits really cements one of the hardest things to do when working with people, holding, ONE ANOTHER accountable.God Bless

Definitely good for a number of management basics. Some of it is telling you what you already know (one would hope) mostly because its a lot of common sense and empathy. That said their are a few key takeaways that can be implemented on an individual basis that will make you a better manager and or a better employee.

I wish I had this book years ago! The book brilliantly breaks down the elements of difficult conversations when it's time to hold someone accountable: how to prepare before the meeting, what to look for and discuss during, and how to follow up after to increase the likelihood of success.The books offers the tools, yet it's up to the reader to practice. No matter the difficulty, it is well worth the effort.

Kind of life changing when it comes to having good conversations in the midst of conflict of any kind. Would really recommend! I am reading this with some associates, and it’s really helping all of us already. I would say we are already good at handling conflicts, and this book is still adding extreme value.

Really loved the first couple chapters. Although it seemed too many at times having examples of both work and personal issues helped to frame the concepts well. For me it seemed this book lost a little horsepower after the first few chapters. The concept of accountability comes from an authoritarian view rather than one of mutual benefit. I wish a few more chapters could have been written on personal accountability as I think one needs to master this before attempting to hold others accountable.Good read overall. I would recommend.
