This book was incredible! My mother is a breast cancer survivor for 6 years and my best friend was just diagnosed with triple neg breast cancer. For the first time since my moms diagnosis I feel empowered that I actually have at least some control. I am giving to my mom as soon as my daughter finishes it! Every woman should read this...period...regardless of history or risk factors. Dr. Funk really breaks this book down in an incredibly reader friendly format. Once I started it, I could not put it down.

Finally Dr Funk’s book is here! I wished for a book like this 8 and 1/2 years ago when I was diagnosed. Her compassionate, calm and steady voice is through out this book teaching us how to care for our bodies and our breasts. So many things have changed in the last few years in breast cancer treatment and to finally have a book that gives us proactive measures to take and focuses not only on the disease but also on breast health is a blessing. I bought multiple copies, one for each of my daughters and one for me. I want them to have the latest information but also none of the scare tactics of old. I gave them the check box next to first degree relative with breast cancer and with Dr Funk’s book they will learn that nothing is inevitable and there are things to do to lessen your chances of cancer. GRATEFUL FOR THE INFORMATION - ALL IN ONE PLACE! Women's health can have so many layers, and this information is shared in a way that is not overwhelming. I am not sure where to start!!! Profound, whacky, utterly insensible but absolutely meaningful at the same time...Douglas Adams was an astute observer of human behaviour which is manifest in the way his characters behave. The fact that they are a part of the most improbable settings highlights that behaviour further.Saying that this book is not as profound or entertaining as the 1st one or THHGTTG is not an affront but a massive compliment to the other volumes.This book made me a bit melancholic which the other two volumes mentioned did not (I have read reviews of Mostly Harmless and have decided not to read it for the sake of compromising my interpretation of how things end with Arthur Dent and others). I am not sure what the real takeaway was supposed to be - that Gods too eventually fall or that the fallen were once magnificent, but I believe it is a bit of both.I really wish we would have had more of this genius to enjoy!!!

There's only one Douglas Adams. I'd give a lot to have more of his writing to read, but, with this book, I've read them all. Other authors try to be Douglas Adams, but he had an incredible ability with wit, dry humor, irony, cultural yet timeless references, and more that just can't be duplicated. If you're used to Douglas Adams writing, this will probably fit right into your expectations. If you're not, you're probably in for a ride. Somewhere between fantasy, sci-fi, and Monty Python, I found this book tremendous fun.

As much a stark raving lunatic fan as I am about all his works, this one is my absolute favorite. Every little detail in this wonderful, clever story is neatly wrapped back into itself, this book must be read multiple times to discover all its nuances, and they are so very worth discovering! Few authors make me laugh out loud while reading, Douglas Adams definitely was one (God rest his gloriously funny soul), and this book is a jewel.The best and the worst of human nature is all in here-- greed, brutal corruption, unthinkable consequences, depression, confusion, compassion, loyalty, and problems with the kids. There are also monsters, gods, divine powers, interdimensional travel, beheadings, and exploding airport check-in desks. And a mysterious eagle that circles above it all.If you're looking for wonderful quotes to tuck in your pocket, this book is loaded with them.I bought this copy because I wore out my first copy.

Like most, if not all, Adams' books it's about the journey and not the final arrival. I love D.A.'s facility with the language. One sentence or one section of the book flows so effortlessly to the next that it makes for very pleasurable reading. If you try to skim the book, you'll miss the best, typically understated, gags. And the gags abound. I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion.Please do yourself a favor and don't hurry to the ending, because the book ends rather abruptly. You get a mental picture of Adams' editor standing on the desk shouting at him about how overdue the final copy is.Still, if you enjoyed Hitchhikers Guide and the follow on books, you will find this a good read. It is certainly much better than the first Dirk Gently novel.

To anyone who is familiar and enjoyed the Hitch Hiker's Guide series, either from reading the books or watching any of several versions in video form, this author needs neither introduction or further praise. Suffice to say that the two books that, sadly, constitute the whole of this series are yet another tour de force and provide a highly entertaining glimpse into a new fantasy concept with vast potential. Prepare to laugh and ponder, often at the intricacies of human relations, societal foibles and the usual blatant governmental corruption.

*Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul* leads off with these lines: "It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on earth has ever produced the expression 'As pretty as an airport.' Airports are ugly. Some are very ugly. Some attain a degree of ugliness that can only be the result of a special effort."And away we go!Another wonderful story by Douglas Adams - full of wit, great metaphors and similes, and wonderful observations about life.

This book is weird. The characters are weird, the writing is weird, the story is weird, even the cars are weird.If you like weird you'll like this. If you don't like weird read this anyhow.I liked it. Is that weird?

The saddest day was when Mr. Adams left us. However the writings he left behind are a gem in world where a little bit of silliness and good story telling is soothing to the soul. If you liked the movie Hitchhiker's guide and you liked the TV show in the BBC about Dirk, then this is something you should think about buying.

Book has beautiful illustrations, but I was very surprised by one of the pages. See attached pic. I’mnot ready to explain gay marriage to my 6 year old.

I gave this book to my grandchildren because I am a quilter, and love to bestow my quilts on those I love. I understand it's meaning and message, and hate to give it a bad review, but be warned. My grandchildren were in tears after the 2nd Grandma died. Not for sensitive children who love their grandmas.

The original version of this book is wonderful. It was a favorite read aloud story of my elementary students and myself for years. When I ordered copies of the 25th edition for my grandchildren I was not aware that the original was changed. I will not read this version to my grandchildren because of the ending.

my daughter in law who is having a baby is Jewish. i made a quilt for the baby and i tucked this book in with it. it was perfect accompaniment. the story is beautifully told...about family, traditions, and the circle of life. the quilt was made with clothing from the family members "basket of clothes". the quilt is then handed down through the generations...becoming a part of the important celebrations...from wedding canopies, to tablecloths for the sabbath dinner, to wrapping a new baby within it's love. the book was poignant...and i hope my quilt will be passed down through the generations as well as it surrounds her with love throughout the years..

Beautiful story of the love and traditions woven throughout a family's generations. This book is illustrated in a way that invites the reader into their family. What a wonderful book,,,a treasure!

This book inspired me to create a quilt for a friend's daughter whose wedding is in January. I have asked the members of her family and friends to contribute to the quilt and I have a friend who is a quilter. So, yes, I enjoyed this sweet little book.

Patricia Polacco is one of the greatest storytellers of our generation. She has put down snippets of not only her life, but of her ancestors, into delightful stories that transcends all age groups. THE KEEPING QUILT is about Polacco's Great-Grandmother Anna, who immigrated to New York City. The only two things that she still owned from her native Russia were her dress and a babushka. Anna's mother eventually takes parts of her dress and babushka along with old clothes belonging to other relatives and makes a quilt that will remind everyone of their homeland. This quilt serves as a source of comfort and memories for future generations. This is another book that I bought my daughter for her birthday. She will read this book to her second graders perhaps inspiring a new generation to write down the memories of the past.

The book was in good condition. The story is good, too. There four quilters in our family. My mother's quilts had stories in them. So I love the book.

This book covers a plethora of divination topics. Numerology, Runes, Palmistry and Scrying all are included in this extra large book. Generally I'm not big on this size book in a soft cover but this one really needs this extra volume to provide the visual impact needed for explaining these crafts. The section on crystal reading discusses working with pendulums as well as a deep look at what each stone means. There is a large photo as well as the zodiac signs associated with each stone. There is a crystal directory sheet that the author recommend the reader use with a pendulum to find the stone that speaks to them. Then use the guide to look up the divinatory meaning of the stone.I tried this out and found the rose quartz, a stone of Taurus and Virgo showing love and reconciliation. It talked about an opportunity to heal old wounds and practicing self love. Something surely I need to address at the present.The next section in the book was related to working with Runes. It discusses the origins of The Elder Futhark, The Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, The Younger Futhark and the Northumbrian Runes. Then delves into to each of the rules with a meaning, an interpretation, the letter sound and even a Tarot card association. The last, not something I have seen before. I have been doing a great deal of work lately with FEHU the rune of material wealth. A friend of mine, owns and operations a site called Primitive Witchery where you can find an assortment of items related to pulling the power of these runes into your daily life. I recommend working with her if you have the chance.My favorite chapter of the book is the chapter on Scrying. It covers, water scrying, candle, flame and smoke scrying, and of course mirror scrying. I have spent many years reading photos and found that my active interest and practice of scrying in all sorts of mediums has helped my readings improve immensely. The key to this is to keep a well documented log of your readings. This book provides an example page of how to log your visions and if you intend to do any type of readings of this manner professionally I would highly recommend beginning with this type of log and just do readings through out the day/week. Practice on friends and family or even on yourself. You can never have too much practice at this.I won't go through each section of the book but I will tell you the chapters that follow include, Teacup readings, Palmistry, Tarot/Playing Card reading, and Numerology. This is a great getting started book to learn about the assorted methods of divination. I highly recommend checking it out.

This was a good book. I am new to crystals, and have heard about this practice. I found the book to be a good beginning source to learn more. The writing was very easy to understand and the pictures just served to add to the experience of learning about crystals, runes, etc. Now when I go into a New Age store and view crystals, I know what to look and feel for.
