It was a great story for elementary aged students to see what hard work and perseverance can do and the impace that John Deere had on the farming community. I used it as a teaching tool in the schools where I work and the kids were pretty fascinated by the fact that John Deere thought to use steel for his plow because of a sewing needle. A good book and great pictures.
It's an educational book about what John Deere did. I just thought there would be more information on the whole tractor business. It's a great book to inform you on how he created the plow.

The story provides a relate-able perspective on Westward Expansion and includes some interesting history of the time period and its struggles. The illustrations are beautiful and their aesthetic augments the story and its setting well. From a teaching standpoint, I appreciated a glossary and bibliography at the end and the facts listed in the back of the book were intriguing.
