I am a total WDW addict and go every year. And yet no matter how many times I have been there, I can't do everything. That is why I buy a Birnbaum's every year. I actually read it cover to cover (yes I am a big geek) and always manage to learn something new, or find something new I want to try. It's not just about learning what is new this year, you get to learn all the little details you may have missed on previousl trips. There are events that I only learned about a year or two ago, and they have them several times a week. The Wishes dessert party was a great addition to one of my trips.

When my three children were younger and we were planning our first Disney World trip, a travel agent suggest Birnbaum's Disney World. I bought the book and it became my Disney encyclopedia. I read the book, cover to cover, and took the book along with me on our vacation so I could refresh my memory, the night before, about the park we would be visiting that day. While others were standing in lines, we were navigating the parks, as per instruction, and had hardly any wait time. Birnbaum's helped us have the best and most informative Disney World vacation we would ever have imagined. Now its 2015, and we are once again traveling to Disney World, with our grandchildren. This will be our 4th Birnbaum Disney vacation. I bought this book again, because, it is worth it's weight in gold! I read thru the book and then passed it along to my son and daughter in law and she is now experiencing the same excitement that I did, when I first read it. This book gives you all the information needed for each area of Disney World, such as ride info, restaurants, including which things are great if you are traveling with small children. If you need to know it, it is in this book. Anyone interested in traveling to Disney World needs to read this Birnbaum's Walt Disney World. It is a must have!

As kids we made several different trips to Disney World. Each trip included two things; our Triple A Trip Tick and a copy of the most up to date Birnbaum book. My father read through it religiously for each trip and while he would never admit, we think he did it as his way of getting excited with still being able to be subtle about it.So...needless to say after 15 years without Disney World in my life, what is the first thing I did even before I booked? Ordered this book (it's a family trip and my Mother told me my Father did as well). The information really is useful, particularly for those who have never visited the resort. It goes over each attraction, hotel, restaurant and special event in "Readers Digest" sort of way. Giving you a great overall view of what to expect and what exactly everything is.Those who have been to Walt Disney World can easily skip out on this book as you are probably well aware of the information. But for those who are looking for some excitement and build up to your trip, don't hesitate to bring back those happy memories.

I LOVE Birnbaums Edition- please let me tell you why... His book has the easiest, & most eye-appealing "lay-out" of information I have EVER SEEN, & I've ordered scores of others, including "PASSPORTERS", & a few others that evade my memory for the moment, BUT, I love The BIRNBAUM Guide because it separates the info via color-coded sections, and breaks it down for the reader in MULTIPLE WAYS,-NOT just ONE WAY,- ie: there's the section on "Hotels" which not only lists each hotel (according to "park-section" as in: closest to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, etc.)with a PHOTO & a few paragraphs describing the hotel itself, the rooms, the activities avail.on site, & the restaurants within each hotel,-(he goes in greater DEPTH w/restauraunts elsewhere ) BUT THEN, he also has a VERY NICELY-Laid-Out Picto-Graph-Section at the end listing each hotel, it's price category & range, what its "known for" or who "loves it"-(ie: lil ones, adults, romantics, etc.) & several other categories are included on that grid but all in Very CONCISE color-coded snippets per category,-beginning with "Deluxe Vaction Club Hotels"-- and so on-- thru to the "Value Resorts" one after the other, within 3 pages. It's very easily followed & viewed nearly all at the same time (unless it's put on 3pages)..It also has the parks listed color coded & lays out each & every single ride by description WITH PICTURES and let's you know if you need to be concerned for very young kids due to noise, or dark, etc. I've ordered EVERY BIRNBAUM BOOK since 1989! (It got to be a "thing" w/us..lol)

This was my first pick when we decided on a Disney vacation because of fond memories of my mom using the Birnbaum's guide to plan my childhood trip to Disney world. It's a handy reference for the unacquainted to Disney World. It would be a great primer for someone just starting to plan their vacation and having never visited Disney before. It's thorough but not exhaustive (if you want exhaustive - try the Unofficial Guide).However, for me, I ended up a tad disappointed in the book. I think due to the prevalence of information on the internet today, by the time I bought this book I already knew half the information from browsing online. And, I'd already chosen a hotel so that entire section was not of use to me. I was expecting more insider tips and tricks than I ended up seeing. But, due to it's lightweight size I think I'll probably take it as a reference on our trip.

I'm not sure how to rate this book. It's a pretty, colorful guide full of pictures and an easy, enjoyable read. What was perplexing was the claim that this is the 'official guide'. Does Disney decide that? Does Disney read it before it goes to print, especially for accuracy?For example, the author lists a ride in the 2015 guide that closed (Maelstrom). And there are other changes that weren't mentioned as well. It's like they took the 2014 guide and just changed the year.If I hadn't read about Maelstrom (at EPCOT) closing in another guide, I would have added it to my list of 'must sees'.

One day I will be a famous author, and Megan McDonald, will thank me for writing a review because than way more people will read her books. Her books are amazing. She's writing at a kids point of view. And, it has a lot of humor in it. Megan McDonald is my most favorite author of all time. It's amazing how she does this. Every single word in her books have a perfect fit. By that I that she says the right words. I should know that because I am the only one paying attention in class during grammar and writing. Last year, my most favorite teacher ever told me that my writing was "perfection". And she should know that because her father wrote ten books. Well, I guess you have heard enough of my bragging for the day! Lol!Sincerely,Zoe Ball

I love this book very much I'm only 8 years old but this book is what Inspired me to become an actress or a book writer. This book also teaches you abouthistory and independence, for example who ever thought that there was a girls in history I know about pirates. (but this doesn't help you with that) I did not know much about history until I read this book . Now I know a lot ,like sybil was sixteen and she rode forty miles FORTY MILES FOR GOODNESS SAKE. who could ever do that she was only 16 she was very brave. I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about history in a very FUN FUN FUN way it's the best I recommend it to anyone.

We really love the Judy Moody books. This book was, as usual, full of great Judy and Stink adventures... However, when compared to the other Judy Moody books we have read, this one was just "alright"... Now we're off to read Judy Moody - Around the World in 8 1/2 Days!

In this book Judy represented her country. I like this book because it shows hilarious feelings and a hint of history. I rated five stars because Judy finally finds out that she has to be responsible for herself. Judy also has a similarity with me: She's in third grade! I like this book and want to read more Judy Moody books.

The book I received had been written in. Very disappointed.

I loved this book because it has all the good qualities of a book. It had some facts but some fun silly eventsthat children about 9 or 10 might like to read about in a book . I recommend this book to third grade and up. Other kids might like it too but third graders might comprehend it better.

This is the first book that I ever read by Spurgeon and it won't be the last. Many of his writings are available for free on Kindle. Christian, you would do well to avail yourself of the wise and comforting words from this Prince of Preachers.

Wow, interesting, good meditation book, take it with you for short reads and rereads

Spurgeon's books are some of the most accurate interpretations of the word of GOD.This book is exciting to read and share with others!

I would give no stars if possible. This is a dumbed down version of Spurgeons Work. Text in my opinion is not even remotely comparable to Spurgeons fine work. Furthermore he would be appauled that the scripture is not even taken from the inspired text of the KJV.

Good subject material for Christian growth.

It is very good.I learned many things from this book.

Shelamzion in particular captivates, as she rises from impoverished and unfavored young girl to a wise, learned ruler hungry for God and His Word. Would that I, and everyone, always had her enthusiasm and followed her example, as I hope and pray to do. Sometimes Shelamzion's attempts at righteousness fall flat--as humans' attempts will--and her attempts to correct generational mistakes don't always succeed. Yet she remains a character well worth rooting for.Deuterotagonist Kissa brings a unique perspective to the story as well. Shelamzion's Egyptian handmaid from childhood, Kissa struggles to understand Hashem and His law, but her pragmatism and questioning sometimes get in the way. She serves as a great audience surrogate, as well as a rare developed character who does not convert right away, or who has a relationship with God based a lot on what she doesn't understand. I don't think Angela utilized her POV enough; Kissa disappears from large blocks of the text without much if any explanation. But when she does tell the story, her presence works great.The details of the Hasmonean family's reign in Judea, the different sects of Jews, and the wars and atrocities associated with the ruling class could have been dull, but never are. Instead, Angela uses these events to show how fallible the people we idolize can be, and what happens to a nation that does not fear God, in real, moving ways. Additionally, I absolutely loved the spiritual threads of Jerusalem's Queen. I'm glad to be on the NT side of the cross, but Shelamzion's journey toward the Messiah almost made me envy those who waited with eager anticipation for Him the first time around. Jesus' name is never mentioned, but He is present throughout the story in dialogue, actions, and reactions, especially in the last half to quarter or so.Once again, Jerusalem's Queen shines as another triumph in the Silent Years series. I couldn't wait, but if you haven't read it yet, stick it on your Christmas or Chanukah list.

I really enjoyed the series . This book is my favorite .I had heard the story of the Macabees and of course this is a fictional work based on the apocryphal books of Maccabees .I learned a lot and Miss Hunt explains in detail what is known and unknown . But the stories are good and the historical part is educational . Explains a lot the attitudes of the Pharisees seen in the New Testament .

Angela Hunt never fails to deliver a well-written, well-researched piece of work that makes you feel like you are IN the story. This book was no different. One thing that I love about historical fiction (and particularly biblical historical fiction) is that it brings that time-frame to life for me and allows me to learn more about a time and culture in a way that is also entertaining. I've really enjoyed this series so far, that takes place in the "silent years" between the old and new testaments. Though this is book 3 is the series, you really don't need to read the other 2 first. The first 2 books actually did not connect at all, and this book referenced both of them... however, the references were detailed enough that you still get the gist without the prior history.In this book, we follow the life of Salome Alexandra, who lived in Judea during these silent years. She was actually born in Modein, where the Maccabees had lived, but moved to Jerusalem while she was young. It was there that her thirst for learning was recognized and appreciated, and she grew up under the guardianship of the high priest. Since the exile, Judea had not had a king and so the high priest served a dual role. I loved Salome's way of analyzing the politics and religious practices from up close and how it trained her to eventually be queen. This book is a fictional account of her life - how she came to be in a position of power 1 generation before Christ was born, and how she managed to be a righteous leader in a time when there was bloodshed and chaos. While this is fiction, a lot of the story is rooted in fact, and I love that Ms. Hunt offers up what pieces are factual and which ones are fictional in her author's note at the end. Suffice it to say that in spite of the leaders before her and after, Salome Alexandra was known as a righteous ruler in Judea and her time in leadership was described as "Judea's Golden Age". As a student of the scripture who has not read the aprocryphal books or other materials from this time-frame, I found this story utterly fascinating.Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my ecopy of this book.
