Excellent book for any one interested to learn about airline industry. It is well-written by some of highly respected experts in the aviation field, and comprehensive that almost cover every aspect relate to this highly specialized field. I read the first edition of this book, but this edition includes chapters about aviation and the environment, and IT in aviation operations, which are great additions. The amount of information the authors are providing is huge, and as you read the book, you'll learn many insights on the aviation and airline industry.In summary, it is a great book and valuable reference that I think any aviation scholar, professional, and enthusiast should have. It's worth every penny and I highly recommend it.

The MIT people are the best I know about the aviation industry. They are really knowledgeable about the aviation industry. This books is written by a team of experts very different from loner writers in other books. If you want to lean about airlines buy this book and throw all the other ones away.

This is a highly ambitious and voluminous textbook introduction to the airline industry and to airline operations written by a total of 17 authors, mostly academics at the MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics but also from other universities and a few industry practitioners. Much of the content was apparently originally developed for an MIT course, quite naturally, called the Airline Industry.The coverage of the book is impressive and at first looks at airlines from a top-down managerial point of view, then goes in to more practical and operational details when surrounding airlines and finally covers a number of related subjects. Among the first types of topics are the industry history, the regulation of both airlines and airports, the economics of the airline market, pricing options and revenue management plus costs and productivity.The second type of subjects includes fleet and route planning, flight crew management during both regular operations and when things don’t work out as planned, labor relations and security handling. The last type of subjects includes airports, air traffic control, industry related environmental issues and how IT effects the management of airlines. This is all obviously very comprehensive. The only topic I can think of that’s missing and that might have warranted a comment is the authors view on whether the traditional long haul hub-and-spoke network model could be rivaled by smaller fuel efficient, long range planes deployed in “long and skinny” point-to-point networks.The sector has obviously changed a lot over the years for example with the emergence of low-cost airlines and the growth of new airlines originating in developing countries – both topics covered extensively in the book. The largest change is however the transition from a fully nationalized sector to a commercial industry. It is today almost chocking to read about how tightly regulated the industry has been both between the 1950’s up until the deregulation in the 1980’s, but in reality also up until now. Apparently, in some aspects the European Union has been a global forerunner in the deregulation of the sector which only goes to show how bad it has been.For me as an investor chapters three through six were obviously the most useful covering the economics of both the industry and if an airline corporation. Commendable enough these chapters start off with a section on airline terminology, definitions and also acronyms such as RPK (Revenue Passenger Kilometer, i.e. one paying passenger transported one kilometer) or ASK (Available Seat Kilometer, i.e. one available seat flown on kilometer). In the end I think one must conclude that air transport is a commodity and in any commodity business the low cost providers will usually turn out to be winners.Initially my worry was that with the authors predominantly being academics the text would be too detached from practical life but this is not at all so. They clearly have a very deep domain knowledge. This doesn’t mean that it’s 500 pages to breeze through. Reading it is rather hard work as it is full of detail in anything from regulatory agencies to airline schedule development. Also, a book containing material from this many authors never really addresses the reader in a fully coherent language.This book works well as a university textbook and it would be an excellent choice if you as an outsider have been recently recruited as an airline CEO and need a crash course on what you are getting into. However, it is probably too heavy and full of operational aspects to really suit an investor looking to understand the industry economicsThis is a review by investingbythebooks.com

I first bought the Netter Atlas and wasn't so excited about the hand-drew pictures. When I wanted to study muscles insertions and so on I would find myself flipping throught pages like crazy and using other books and apps plus I felt that there were some pictures that should've been there.That's when when I found this book.Is the beeeest one by far. And believe me. Im not biased. I gave the chance to both.Returned Netter and kept this One.And you can see you have the tables right at hand and the computer made drawings are just beautiful and detailed.That without talking about the code it comes with and the resources you have. Plus the new radiographs addition.It's just the best atlas

I am a retired Plastic Surgeon who always had a special interest in Anatomy. There is NOTHING better to learn anatomy than a good Atlas. I have ALL the good human anatomy atlas : Grant's, Netter, Sobotta ( 3 volumes) and of course the Thieme, Gilroy and Macpherson, which is by far my favorite. I also love Grant's atlas, my second choice, Sobotta my 3rd choice and Netter my 4th choice. I have used all of them and will never get rid of any of them. For instance the " fabella" is only mentioned in Grant's (sesamoid in lateral head of the gastrocnemius, one question in my final oral exam in Anatomy in first year medical school and I was apparently the only one who knew what it was, thanks to Grant atlas.)If you only want one Atlas I think the Thieme is without a doubt, the best one today. I have just ordered the last edition of Netter whose review I will publish soon after receiving it; however I doubt it will equal the Thieme 3rd edition, which to me is the most beautiful ,most comprehensive with the very BEST illustrations. It is a must for any student of anatomy, especially medical student and for anyone who loves anatomy.

My favorite atlas. Highly recommended. The computer generated images offer an unparalleled clarity, which is essential when learning a new concept.

This was a different type of story that I normally read. I mean teenage angst to romance. The story revolves around a girl who was not the cheerleader, but the 'ugly duckling'. She has a weight issue and was teased even by her own sister. She has a crush on the boy next door (Jay) for so long. But moved away after her parents divorce. Now she is back with the same issues. Her bff (Shauna) is still there for her. And the neighbor (Tuck) who has been there is on her side till his own life takes over. But when tragedy strikes who will be left standing. This is the first in several stories that revolve around high school sweethearts.

I found myself surprised by how much I enjoyed this young adult novel. I wasn't sure at the start of it if I would. I didn't particularly care for the voice of the opening scene, but as the book progressed, I understood more. The book covers a lot of time and there are parts where weeks and even months go by, but it was still good. I appreciated the topic of eating disorders being covered. I also enjoyed the epilogue. I like to know the characters I've read are enjoying their lives later in life.

this story more than most YA stories I read. At times I was a little annoyed at Tucker just because he seemed to hold Lacey to a different standard than him. I mean, he went through that whole period where he bullied her and pretended they weren’t friends but blamed her for having to pretend they weren’t friends later. I had to keep reminding myself they’re just 15 lol. Otherwise, I truly loved the book. I was really excited to see more books about the Sunday Lunchers!

I loved This book . I enjoyed all the characters and the plot. It brings out a real problem with the young ladies in school today . It shows that they should be embarrassed by their bodies or problems that they have. I would have my daughter read this book . Thank you for the great book can't wait to read the next

This was an easy read. One that you won't be able to put down until the last page. There were some major turning points that I never saw coming, like an OMG moment. Loved all the characters and hope to see more of them in a sequel.

This book will transport you right back to high school. All those feelings of uncertainty and low self esteem while comparing yourself to others were on full display. The mean girls, the parties. . . There was a lot of emotional content in this book. Hard issues that a lot of girls face. My heart broke for Lacey so many times. Her happy ending felt extra satisfying.

Intense coverage of the insecurities that high school girls feel and the trouble that can cause. Hard to realize what someone is going through if there is a lack of communication. There was a little lacking in the romances. It was still worth the read.

I absolutely loved this whole series! It was refreshing to read something with more substance than just a standard romance (although I love those, too!). I haven't read book 6 yet, but the other 5 are fabulous.

I have come to realize that I am not a huge mystery fan, and when I novel is categorized as such.. I am very picky as to which I like, and am harder on them rating wise then other genres. But this, this was incredible. It was twisted, disturbing, and you really never knew where the next page was going to take you. I got everything wrong, and that's exactly what I loved and hated, all at once. A MUST READ for any mystery readers.

Let me introduce you to the players aka The Burke family:Sterling Burke - The most prominent judge in Florida. He's such a charming man that he has everyone from the mayor to the governor in his back pocket. Nothing bad ever happens to Sterling and nothing ever will.Hollis Burke - Sterlings wife and mother to Charlotte and Mellie. She rules the house with an iron fist and spews vitriol to anyone that dare disagree with her. A loving mother she is not.Mellie Burke - Oldest daughter, mother of 18 yr old Trudy, she spends most of her days self medicating with alcohol while laying about her parents house.Charlotte Burke - Youngest daughter, mother to 5 year old Ruby, a shell of a woman really. Her fathers favorite and her mothers nemesis.It appears the Burkes like to keep their children close. Why else would two grown woman and their children still live at home? Clearly something is amiss.Then one day Ruby goes missing and soon her body is found on the beach. Detectives Alice Garner and Joe Nakamura are called in to investigate. What exactly goes on behind closed doors of the Burke mansion? It appears everyone has secrets."It was curious how so often people saw only the surface of one another. They filled in the blanks they didn't know or couldn't understand with preconceived notions that had no grounding in reality."The chapters alternate between "Before" and "After" where we get the perspectives of Alice, Charlotte, and Trudy. This was a little bit confusing at first but after a few chapters I was able to grasp the back and forth. While in the Alice chapters we find out in flashbacks that her own daughter was kidnapped and killed which is the driving force behind her solving this crime.I really enjoyed the banter between Detectives Garner and Nakamura. Garner is tough as nails after losing her daughter while Nakamura was the surprisingly kind and understanding older seasoned detective. They really seemed to have a deep connection even though they were complete opposites.My one complaint is that for some reason I never felt any real empathy for the Burke girls and I most certainly should have. It's a strange feeling when you read something like this but feel emotionally cut off from the characters.The book was a slow burn but an interesting one. The twist and the ending were a complete shock. Like, never in a million years would I have predicted this outcome. My second book by this author and I'm twice reduced to tears. Phenomenal author with great story telling capacity. Highly recommend. I can't wait for her next book. SHE IS GOOD

In so many ways. I made myself finish it. No likable characters, horribly drawn out and ridiculous ending. Spare yourself

Incredibly annoying reader (especially when she does the child’s voice); the writing is full of fluffy, forced adjectives and the story was predictable.

Fantastic. I was shifting my ideas of who was responsible until the very end. I love that the clues were subtle, really made me think. Very clever.

Very suspenseful...intriguing sequence of events and how the author handled the story development. Good character development.

You won't see the twists and turns coming. It's an entertaining nail biter with surprises page after page. A must read.
